Foldable Mystery machine - Scooby Doo

GOODesign is a design studio established in Seoul, Korea by a representative who has been active in product design and 3D CG field for 20 years. As a design company that pursues a reasonable and differentiated digital design, it has always presented a new direction through working with clients such as Hyundai Motor, Siemens Korea and beiersdorf. This time, we have put out the life product for 3D printing by utilizing various technique design based on the shape of the Class-A surface. These products are especially the result of deep research on the 3D printing dominant shape that can not be mass-produced using a mold.

Although there are 3D printers or devices that can print multiple colors at the same time, it is still difficult to say that the completeness is high. Setting is also difficult, and the amount and time of filament consumed in the purge box is quite large. So, I recently made some folding designs so that some can be printed and pasted according to the color or material. The reaction of 3D printer users to this was good, so I took this opportunity to design the main concept to print and attach parts separately according to color.
It was selected as the most suitable target as the Mystery Machine appearing in Scooby Doo, which recorded a large number of votes in Request.

The number of parts is so large that printing is a bit cumbersome, but the making process is very simple. Simply insert the parts to match the color and then fold. However, the upper part of the vehicle is a type that wraps the lower part, so you only need to pay attention to this. Please check the video for more details.

With this design, I'm going to think more about the color. Hope you enjoy 3D printing~

When expanded, size = X 158mm, Y 162mm, Z 42mm After folding X 65mm, Y 114mm, Z 70mm

I used esun sky blue, peak green, fiberlogy orange, black to print.
You can use the same color from another manufacturer.

Just finished the build. Printed it at 130% to get it as big as I could to fit the bed of my printer. All parts fit together perfectly, and had no issues with the hinges. The only problem/issue I have is that the rear doors don't stay shut. Any time you move the vehicle they swing open. The separation between the center door edges isn't close enough, unless it's an issue on my end... not sure.

    Great design anyway!!

This was my issue as well. I don't think I can sell it because of that issue. But other than that it was perfect. A real shame. I tried a few things to make the doors stay shut but nothing works.

I was able to fix the issue in the slicer - I have Bambu slicer which I assume you could do in Prusa Slicer as well. But I split the model into objects. Then I selected the back doors and I Y-scaled them to 102%. Then I selected all pieces and right click - assemble. The doors were big enough then where it kept closed :)

So you list all the filament colors except for the silver/gray. What color is it???

    2023-06-01 14:25:39

    Hi kenjancef1750,

We have used grey, however it is always great to be creative and choose the color by personal preference.

    Thank you

The wheels from the chassis breaks when I try to loosen them. Any suggestions on a fix?

So I am printing this in ngen on a mk3 and the chassis is a problem for me. The foldable part goes loose on one side but always snap on the other (the part that needs to slide seems always attached to the body). Any suggestion?

None of the tips applies, it is like the gap supposed to let the part slide is missing

I tried everything in the settings and tips and more. The model just breaks when trying to feed the folding junctions. Pity, otherwise would have been a nice model.

How do you get the backdoor frame to loose so you can actually fold it into place? All the other foldable part loose fine but everything I try to do it with the backdoor frame, the damn thing snaps off!!!!

    2021-09-17 13:01:22

It's hard to give exact advice because you didn't show the pictures, but I guess it's because the parts are stuck together.
    Please check print-tips.
    Thank you!

I had a hard time with the backdoor frame. Couldn't get it loose to fold and snap into place. Ended up breaking it off! 14 hrs of wasted print time and filament.

I hope you are having a good day. I purchased the model, and am currently printing the body. I am using Cura 4.3 as my slicer, my printer is a Monoprice Cadet. Do you know if I might run into any issues with this setup?
