GOODesign
GOODesign is a design studio established in Seoul, Korea by a representative who has been active in product design and 3D CG field for 20 years. As a design company that pursues a reasonable and differentiated digital design, it has always presented a new direction through working with clients such as Hyundai Motor, Siemens Korea and beiersdorf. This time, we have put out the life product for 3D printing by utilizing various technique design based on the shape of the Class-A surface. These products are especially the result of deep research on the 3D printing dominant shape that can not be mass-produced using a mold.
Second flower vase design for 3D printing.
A number of projected cubes were gathered to form a similar curve as of Korean ceramic, which has the Oriental classical beauty. This digital pattern reminds us of armadillo’s solid outer skin or fish scale or ancient armors. Therefore, this digital pattern has rather a classical atmosphere.
This pattern is of 3D printing’s own that cannot be produced by any of other existing production method. The pattern using the projected cube is not a new one, but it is a dimensional pattern completed over lots of experiments so that it could be optimized for 3D printer. Surprisingly, this dimensional pattern, looking a very elaborate, was closely calculated to be printed out easily even by the distribution type FDM 3D printer.
It was designed to get a high quality result when printing it from a low-priced FDM 3D printer, and to get a clean output without a postprocess. However, printers with a weak retraction could produce things like spiderweb among cubes, which should be eliminated carefully with a craft cutter.
This vase of 250mm, when it is completed, was divided in 3 parts to be easily printed out by most of desktop printer that cannot print out a big one, and ribs were created for its easy combination
When assembling the divided part, the adhesive can be not only for plastic but also for multipurpose, but using an adhesive for wood and paper and drying it for a long time, it has less trace for a clean finish.
Being not waterproof, if it is used as a vase, a trap of 500ml bottled water can be cut to use it inside. When taking this bottled water out, it is easier if putting the finger inside the hole created in the lower part and pushing it up.
Being not used as a vase, this product has a high value as an interior prop, and will attract many people’s attention with its form that has never seen before. The size of this product is of 145mm (width) and of 250mm (height), and it is suitable even for any interior place including a living room, bedroom, library and bathroom.
For the color of materials, bright colors such as white or ivory color are nice, but you can get a dignified result even by printing it out in black. A number of projected cubes are gathered to create organic curve, giving a simple form a new change.
