GOODesign
GOODesign is a design studio established in Seoul, Korea by a representative who has been active in product design and 3D CG field for 20 years. As a design company that pursues a reasonable and differentiated digital design, it has always presented a new direction through working with clients such as Hyundai Motor, Siemens Korea and beiersdorf. This time, we have put out the life product for 3D printing by utilizing various technique design based on the shape of the Class-A surface. These products are especially the result of deep research on the 3D printing dominant shape that can not be mass-produced using a mold.
Mario in the game Super Mario is a very unique character in the game field. I think it's one of the few characters that are loved by so many fans. But none of the 3D printed designs were to my liking. So, for a long time, I had the idea to make it well. In the meantime, I heard that the Super Mario movie was released this time, so I made Mario to match it.
First of all, color division was designed with top priority.
And we put a lot of effort into the design of the joints so that we can create various postures.
It was designed so that three types of hands can be created and replaced.
The assembly process is very simple, but there are a few things you need to be careful about.
When connecting the torso (blue) and arms (red), the arms are folded and put in a space that is wide open in front and back without fully assembling the torso.
After positioning the arm inside the body like this, you can insert it by stepping back and forth from the body. When inserting the arm, the shape of the front and back is different, so please pay attention here as well.
Make sure that the pupils and eyebrows match well by inserting them in advance before using the adhesive.
There is no distinction between left and right feet.
If you want to take a posture with your legs spread, you can easily create a posture by adjusting the angle of your ankles well.

This thing is fantastic. I love it. My only question or concern is related to the shoulders. Should I but a dap of glue to join the tops of the overalls? They can fall apart easily when someone grabs Mario. Everything else is either snapped in or glued.
Cool model! Any chance you could remove the Fab365 logo from the head since it's already on the hat and won't even be visible? It's a STRUGGLE for first layer adhesion with all the z-hops and retractions needed to draw that fine detail.
I loved this model, to be honest, I'm very happy to have done it.
I made two versions, the original one (the smaller) for my son, and the other one at 150% for myself, hehe.
The only issue I had was with the arms. I tried printing them in different ways, but the joint breaks, so unfortunately, the arms on Luigi are fixed and glued, and on Mario, one arm is fixed while the other is not (it will probably break if I change its position).
It would be good if you could reconsider the arm design, maybe it can be improved or reinforced at that point. I'm also attaching a reference photo for you to see what I'm talking about.
Printed 5 of these but have to say I struggled with the legs.
First one printed at 100% on Bambu Labs P1P, no issues.
Scaled to 150% and had more failures than successes when printing the legs. The thin rectangle that slides in the legs continually popped off a layer or two after the infill layers start.
Tried multiple things on 2 different printers including hairspray on build plate (which I've never used or needed, slower speeds, more z-hop, different temperatures, you name it. Same issue with that part of print.
When it did print, absolutely great and many requests from friends hoping to get a print.
Thanks for a great model and introduction to Fab365.
Hi scott5456,
We are glad you figured it out. Thank you for enjoying our model!
Never figured it out. Still struggling to print last 2 sets of legs.
So weird that at 100%, no issues, 150% problems.
El modelo quedo genial. Para que no quede sin alma le coloque dos puntos blanco en los ojos. A la espera de Luigi.
Great print. A little on the “wobbly” side trying to stand him up straight but I love the detail. Printed at 250%
